Accidents

Intruded teeth

In this case, the tooth shortens. Your dentist will stabilize the tooth and reposition it. A root canal treatment will be performed after a few weeks. Calcium hydroxide will remain in the tooth until the root growth is completed. Ultimately, you will receive a permanent root filling.

Extrusion

Here, it involves elongated teeth with increased mobility. In this case, your dentist will stabilize and reposition the tooth. If the pulp remains healthy/vital, no further treatment is necessary. However, if the pulp is damaged or infected, a root canal treatment must be performed.

Avulsion

Avulsion refers to the complete displacement of a tooth from its socket (bone). If this happens to you, try to keep the tooth moist. The tooth can be saved if it remains moist. Place the tooth in a glass of milk or water (with a bit of salt). Your dentist will decide if and when a root canal treatment is necessary. The manner in which and the duration for which the tooth was outside the bone will be crucial for the treatment and preservation of the tooth.
